NFL Running Back’s “Stupid” Tone Deaf Costume Decision Has Fans Calling For Him To Be Cut Immediately [VIDEO]

Julius Chestnut has carved out a limited role in Tennessee’s backfield this season. He sits behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears on the depth chart and also handles return duties on special teams.

The Titans arrived at Nissan Stadium on Sunday looking to bounce back from a rough season opener.

They had lost to the Jets 23-10 in Week 1, a defeat that left little room for error against a strong Eagles team.

Chestnut showed up to the stadium in a Green Goblin costume, complete with a bright mask and purple cape.

He wore a Black Panther outfit the week before, continuing a pregame superhero/villain tradition that didn’t sit well with everyone this time around.

The Costume Choice Followed A String Of Rough Seasons

Tennessee finished 2025 with a 3-14 record. And the Titans have won a combined six games over their last two seasons. Fans pointed to that history as reason enough to expect a more serious approach heading into a winnable divisional-style matchup, even as the team leaned on Cam Ward as its new franchise quarterback.

Podcaster Jared Stillman didn’t hold back either. “I would legitimately cut him. This is a job,” Stillman said, targeting Chestnut directly over the costume.

Stillman has clashed with the organization before, having lost his team credential earlier this month after a pointed question to Cam Ward drew the team’s ire.

Sunday’s Loss Only Deepened The Frustration For Fans

Fans piled on across social media throughout the day.

“Stupid,” one fan wrote, offering a blunt reaction to the costume photos.

“To be clear this is a multi-year practice squad player who barely snuck onto the roster this season and is now clowning around every week in the midst of being the worst franchise in the NFL for more than 3 years now. Perfect snapshot of everything the Titans have become,” another fan claimed.

“Team is 0-1 & got embarrassed by the Jets. This should get you cut. Clearly dont take your job seriously,” a third fan declared before kickoff.

The Eagles beat the Titans 24-20, dropping Tennessee to 0-2 on the season. That result comes after the Titans were listed among the teams whose 2026 season looked over before it even began, citing a thin roster and a difficult division.

Chestnut recorded no offensive touches in Week 1, and his role in Sunday’s loss remained limited as well.
