Trent McDuffie might be finding his way off the team.

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select the Washington defensive back in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now, the Kansas City Chiefs’ cornerback could end his tenure with the team during the offseason.

Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors suggests that the team could make a bold trade this offseason to free up some cap space.

Unfortunately, that involves trading Trent McDuffie since he will be a free agent after the 2026 season.

Regarding a potential McDuffie trade, Ulrich offered the following:

Kansas City has McDuffie under contract for one more season, but if it starts to become apparent that an extension is going to be too challenging to negotiate, that’s when a trade becomes an option like it did for Hill. It should also be pointed out that the Chiefs are in a huge cap hole for 2026 right now and need to be conscious of how they spend their money.

Before the trade deadline, the Chiefs offered a fourth-round pick to New York for Breece Hall.

At the time, the Jets had just traded All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Kansas City Chiefs left Arrowhead Stadium in Week 12 with a 23-20 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts.

However, several players had to pay big time for their actions during that game.

Early in the first quarter, Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie was involved in a play that ended up costing him money.

As he tackled Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren, McDuffie grabbed Warren’s facemask.

No flag was called on the play, but after reviewing the film, the NFL thought it was egregious enough to levy a fine on Trent McDuffie.

The league fined him $11,593 for unnecessary roughness (facemask).

That is the standard fine for a first-time unnecessary roughness penalty involving a facemask infraction in the NFL.
