A new video has emerged of the interesting postgame interaction between John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson after the Baltimore Ravens’ season ended on Sunday.

On Tuesday, the Ravens announced that they had fired John Harbaugh after a disappointing 8-9 season. Baltimore’s season ended when Tyler Loop missed a game-winning field goal attempt against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a win-or-go-home AFC North clash.

Two days after the heartbreaking loss, Baltimore decided to make a change. After Mike Tomlin (the Steelers’ coach since 2007), Harbaugh had been the NFL’s second-longest tenured coach. His 18-year campaign ends with a 180-113-0 record.

Over the final weeks of 2025, there were whispers about a rift between John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson. This new video, following the Ravens’ loss to Pittsburgh, would certainly indicate that their relationship was beyond repair.

Interpret it as you wish:

The Ravens made the playoffs six times in eight years during the Harbaugh-Jackson era. But Jackson’s injury woes (he missed four games) and a mediocre defense derailed a 2025 season with high expectations.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that teams with coaching vacancies should have interest in Harbaugh. Schefter added that the 63-year-old “is expected to emerge as a favorite for” the New York Giants’ HC position.

As great as Jackson and Harbaugh were together, it’s clear that they both needed a split. Jackson needs a younger and more offense-driven head coach.

Tom Brady won another Super Bowl after splitting from Bill Belichick. Peyton Manning went to a Super Bowl (winning two) with two different coaches. Matthew Stafford took his game to another level after teaming up with Sean McVay.

It was simply time for Harbaugh and the Ravens to move in different directions. And if Harbaugh wants to return to coaching right away, he won’t have to wait long for his next opportunity.
