Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift welcomed a long list of famous guests to their wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden on Friday. The event brought together stars from sports, music, Hollywood, and fashion, with around 1,000 guests attending the ceremony.
Most of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates also made the guest list. However, one familiar face did not receive an invitation. According to the Daily Mail, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker did not attend the wedding and was the only player on the current Kansas City roster to miss the invite.
The report surprised many because Butker has played alongside Kelce since 2017. Their long history with the Chiefs made his absence felt as everyone gathered to celebrate the couple’s big day.
Butker Stands Out As The Lone Chiefs Player Missing

Butker’s actual problem started two years ago after his controversial graduation speech at Benedictine College. In that speech, he said that many women should focus on raising a family rather than building a career. He also criticized then-President Joe Biden’s views on abortion and spoke against the LGBTQ+ community.
More than 260,000 people signed a petition asking the Chiefs to release him.
Even with this much hate, Kelce defended his teammate during a May 2024 episode of the New Heights podcast. Kelce said he did not agree with most of Butker’s opinions, but he did not think those views should define him as a person.
“When it comes down to his views and what he said at the Saint Benedict’s commencement speech, those are his,” Kelce said. “I can’t say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids.”
Kelce added, “I don’t think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, of how to go about life.”
Jason Kelce also rejected many of Butker’s opinions while urging people to respect different viewpoints. He said, “The things he said in the commencement speech are not things that I align myself with.”
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also supported his teammate at the time. “I’ve known Harrison for seven years and I judge him by the character that he shows every single day,” Mahomes said. “That’s a good person.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also said, “Everybody is from different areas, different religions, different races, and so we all get along, we all respect each other’s opinions.”
While Butker reportedly missed the celebration, several Chiefs players attended the wedding. Chris Jones, Kareem Hunt, and Trent McDuffie all arrived in New York for the event. Mecole Hardman Jr., Raiders TE coach Luke Steckel, Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp, and Baker Mayfield also received invitations.
