Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs lost their second consecutive game after a promising 5-0 start to the season. While Sunday’s loss wasn’t as lopsided as last week’s to the Seattle Seahawks, it still stung given how the Chiefs lost.
Kansas City had a chance to win late before a false start penalty ruined their plans. They couldn’t pull off the win, and fans and players were left fuming. Brittany Mahomes took to social media to call out the referees, while her husband also expressed his frustrations.
“It couldn’t have been big, but it was called. At the end of the day, you have to go with whatever is called, but a lot of times in those big moments, the little stuff doesn’t get called like that,” he told reporters postgame.

Additionally, Mahomes received heavy criticism after a video showed Broncos QB Bo Nix seemingly chasing him for their post-game handshake.
Many fans online accused Mahomes of “trying to get away” from Nix during postgame handshakes.
Tracy Wolfson Reveals What Happened During Patrick Mahomes Postgame Exchange

CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson shed light on the situation. She explained what really happened between the two quarterbacks.
“This is absolutely not true. I was right there and Nix was on the other side of field when game ended and celebrating and took a while to get to Mahomes. They had a long conversation with Mahomes and Nix both showing respect for each other,” she said.
Mahomes was visibly upset after the game, but he has never been a bad loser. The Chiefs dropped to 5-2 while the Broncos improved to 6-2, as the AFC West race gets tighter.
Mahomes went 30 for 41 for 321 yards and three touchdowns. It wasn’t enough, though, as the Broncos tied the regular-season series.
