Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes broke his silence after suffering a season-ending ACL tear against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With less than two minutes remaining in Sunday’s must-win home game, Patrick Mahomes was injured after being tackled by Da’Shawn Hand on a scrambling play. The Chiefs ultimately fell 16-13 and have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
Hours after the loss, Kansas City confirmed that Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear. It’s just the latest blow in a season where absolutely nothing went right for the defending AFC champs.
After suffering the brutal injury, Mahomes broke his silence with the following statement shared on his X/Twitter account:
“Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I Will be back stronger than ever ⏰”

Not only is Kansas City out of the postseason for the first time since 2014, but they’re now in danger of finishing below .500 for the first time since 2012. It’s all up to Gardner Minshew II to keep the streak.
