New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has come to the defense of former Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey.
On Monday, the Bulls waived the 24-year-old Jaden Ivey after he made anti-LGBTQ comments on Instagram. live. At one point in the video, Ivey questioned why the NBA promoted Pride Month.
Chicago acquired Ivey in a three-team trade with the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves ahead of last month’s deadline. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in four games with Chicago via ESPN) before being shut down for the season with a knee injury.
After Ivey was waived, TreVeyon Henderson defended the veteran NBA guard by quoting the Matthew 5:10 bible verse:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

TreVeyon Henderson Was One Of The NFL’s Top Rookies In 2025

The Patriots selected the Ohio State running back in the second round (38th overall) last year. Henderson quickly formed a potent RB duo with veteran stalwart Rhamondre Stevenson.
TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 911 yards, second among all rookies behind Ashton Jeanty, and nine touchdowns. The 23-year-old finished with 1,132 yards of offense and 10 total touchdowns. In four playoff games, Henderson added 76 rushing yards and 33 yards on five receptions.
Henderson and Stevenson helped quarterback Drake Maye enjoy a breakout season, with the latter finishing second in MVP voting behind Matthew Stafford. The Patriots went all the way to Super Bowl 60, losing to the Seattle Seahawks in a game largely dominated by the two defenses.
But with Maye and Henderson leading a young offensive nucleus, the Patriots’ championship window is wide-open. They should be in the mix for years to come, especially given the long-term outlook of the AFC East.
