Following a disappointing season, the Philadelphia Eagles finally decided to move on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

Eagles fans and media urged head coach Nick Sirianni to take play-calling duties off Patullo, a first-time offensive coordinator who had never called plays before. Sirianni stood loyal to his long-time assistant, which may have ultimately doomed the team.

That’s why the Eagles will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of a suitable replacement.

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the team is targeting two former head coaches for their offensive coordinator position.

The Eagles Will Target Kliff Kingsbury And Kevin Stefanski To Replace Kevin Patullo

“A league source said Kliff Kingsbury (a runner up when the team hired Kellen Moore) & Kevin Stefanski will ‘get a real look’ for the Eagles offensive coordinator position–among other options–assuming head coach signings don’t supersede the team’s vacancy,” Anderson wrote on X.

Kingsbury, a former head coach with the Arizona Cardinals, was let go after two years as the Washington Commanders’ offensive coordinator. Stefanski, on the other hand, won two Coach of the Year awards in his six years with the Cleveland Browns.

Both of them are also drawing some buzz as potential head coaches. But if they don’t get the top job, they can certainly be premium options for the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Kingsbury is known for his college-style offense, full of deception and trickery. As for Stefanski, he runs a run-heavy, RPO-based offense. Neither of them did well this season, but they certainly have the pedigree for this job. Also, the Eagles can’t do much worse right now.

With Patullo at the helm, the Eagles’ offense ranked 24th in total yards per game (322.7), 19th in points (22.3), and 24th in third-down conversion percentage (37.1 percent).

With that type of championship-caliber roster, that’s simply not acceptable. At times, even his own players seemed shocked by his terrible play-calling.

Patullo had been an assistant coach for Sirianni since their days together with the Indianapolis Colts. It’s odd to see that the team won’t keep him around in any capacity, not even with a demotion.

And after the way things fared for this team this season, it’s hard to think he’ll find another job soon. He clearly wasn’t the only one to blame for this debacle. Still, this is a harsh business, and it doesn’t forget.
