The AJ Brown trade saga continues. The Philadelphia Eagles draw closer to the date they reportedly set to move the veteran wide receiver.

On Sunday, three teams were linked with a move for the wide receiver. The Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs joined a race that only had the New England Patriots in it.

The Patriots entered the offseason considered the clear-cut favorites to win the trade. However, the Eagles could make things hard for them.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Asking Price Could Ruin Patriots’ Pursuit of AJ Brown

During Wednesday’s edition of “The Insiders,” Ian Rapoport explained that Howie Roseman won’t change his asking price for Brown, which could put the Patriots in a complex position.

“As far as the actual trade, we’re all waiting for June 1 to happen, so the cap hit is in half for the Philadelphia Eagles and they can trade [Brown],” Rapoport said. “I just don’t know that it’s going to be like ‘snap your fingers and the deal is done,’ because the two sides are where they have been — which is the Eagles wanting a first-round pick in 2027. The Patriots — being the most likely destination, we’ll see if someone else arises — but the Patriots [are] not willing to give up a first-round pick, as of right now.

“That means they’re not particularly close, and there’s a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future.”

The Eagles could be better by trading Brown after June 1. Then again, the move won’t be as easy as many thought.
