Jalen Carter quickly established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted the defensive tackle out of Georgia in 2023, making him the No. 9 overall pick. He has since made two Pro Bowls and an All-Pro second team. More importantly, he was a key factor in the team’s run to the Super Bowl in 2024.

Would the Eagles be willing to trade such an impactful player who just turned 25? Who knows?

Reports suggest that there are signs Philadelphia is considering it

As such, FOX has put together an intriguing trade proposal that would see him join the San Francisco 49ers.

The Eagles would receive a 2027 first-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick in exchange.

Philly just acquired a 2028 first-rounder and 2027 fifth-rounder in the A.J. Brown deal. Should they add the aforementioned haul, it would leave them holding an enviable basket of draft capital.

General Manager Howie Roseman probably wouldn’t sleep if the Eagles ever secured that many picks all at once, but at the expense of giving up Carter?

Eagles Secure Jalen Carter’s Services For Fifth Year

It’s worth noting that the defensive star is in the final year of his rookie contract. Carter signed a four-year, fully guaranteed $21.8 million deal with the Eagles in 2023. He makes an annual salary of $5,451,504 and has a cap hit of $6,938,300 for 2026.

The Eagles have already picked up his fifth-year option, which guarantees him $27 million. But they will need to negotiate one of the biggest deals – for a defensive player – in team history soon enough.

The team is reportedly hesitant to commit to a big, long-term deal because of Carter’s shoulder injuries.

It’s also believed they may harbor concerns about his character.

Fans would recall that the player was thrown out of the Eagles’ 2025 opener against the Dallas Cowboys before the game even started after appearing to spit at Dak Prescott.
