Pittsburgh Steelers Make Final Decision On Voiding DK Metcalf’s Contract Following Assault of Detroit Lions Fan
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

DK Metcalf’s physical confrontation with a Detroit Lions fan will see him miss the rest of the regular season. It also resulted in him forfeiting more than $555,000 in salary. But the impact went well beyond that.
The two-game suspension for what the NFL terms “conduct detrimental” to the league voided guaranteed money. Metcalf was going to lose out on at least $45 million in future guaranteed money. He still had the opportunity to earn that money over the next two years.
Now, he has nothing to worry about.
Metcalf appeared to throw a punch at a Lions fan during the first half of Pittsburgh’s eventual 29-24 win. He allegedly accused that fan of saying racial slurs and speaking ill of his mother. With so much bad news coming his way, he is now getting a late Christmas gift from the team.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will not void DK Metcalf’s $45 million in guaranteed money. Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer dropped that news on Sunday.
Shoutout to the Steelers. They some real ones ❤️

The Steelers Made The Correct Decision On DK Metcalf

In his contract, there was a clause stating that his guarantees would be ‘null and void’ in multiple situations. That included a ‘player suspension by the NFL or club for conduct detrimental.’ Now, Metcalf has nothing to worry about.
The Steelers made the correct decision for an important player. Metcalf is needed if they want to go deeper in the playoffs. Having an upset star wideout is never a good idea, and other players around the league would be watching.
Metcalf can return to the Steelers for their playoff game if they make the playoffs. They need to defeat the Browns to win the AFC North. Should they lose, they would have to defeat the Ravens in Week 18. He now has to pray that his behavior does not cost his team in a huge way.
