President Donald Trump is bringing together some of the biggest names in sports to discuss the future of college athletics. However, one top college football voice will not be there.

Trump is hosting a high-profile meeting centered on college football and the overall college sports landscape. ESPN reported that about 35 people are expected to attend. The group will include former coaches, league commissioners, media executives, and former athletes.

One notable name missing from the list is Paul Finebaum, one of ESPN’s most recognizable college football analysts. Some people are quick enough to call his absence a snub.

The meeting will include some of the biggest names in sports.

Golf legend Tiger Woods plans to attend. Former college football coaches Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Mack Brown will also be part of the discussion.

Trump invited former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who serves on the College Football Playoff selection committee. Jonathan Kraft, president of the New England Patriots, will be there as well. Adam Silver, Eric Shanks, and Jimmy Pitaro are also on the guest list.

Several athletic directors will attend, including Notre Dame’s Pete Bevacqua. Former college stars like Tim Tebow and Charlie Ward will join too.

Paul Finebaum spoke about the meeting Monday on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.” He did not seem upset. Instead, he talked about the bigger picture.

“I hope so,” Finebaum said when asked if the meeting could lead to change. “If something doesn’t happen very quickly, and I mean in the next short period of time, and we’re talking about weeks, not years, then this thing could blow up.”

Finebaum stressed that college football needs action, not more talk.

“We don’t need any more shows in college football,” he said. “We need action.”

He added, “The key isn’t for sound bites. The key is to actually get something implemented.”

Trump has not shared the agenda of the meeting. Moreover, he also has not said why Paul Finebaum was not invited.

For now, people are waiting to see if the meeting actually leads to real changes in college sports.
