Justin Herbert has been on the receiving end of criticism and jokes the entire 2026 season. The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback has been a shell of his former self, and not even the addition of Mike McDaniel to the coaching staff has improved his performance.
Tom Brady savagely roasted him at the start of the season, criticizing his throws and decision-making under pressure. The Chargers hit another low on Sunday, scoring just nine points against their landlord, the Los Angeles Rams, in Week 9.
Herbert went 24 for 32 for 257 yards with two interceptions and two sacks. Such a performance earned him a lot of criticism and more jokes.
Rams Defender Destroys Justin Herbert’s Throws

During an appearance on the St. Brown Podcast, Rams safety Quentin Lake roasted Herbert. The defender used Brady’s words to describe Herbert’s throws.
“I mean, (Herbert) was throwing deli meat out there. He’s seeing ghosts, I’m not going to lie,” Lake said with a laugh. “Bro, I don’t know what’s going on, but we knew we were getting a couple.”

Herbert has completed 61.8% of his pass attempts, for 1,398 yards (23rd in the league), five touchdowns (28th), 10 interceptions (31st) and a 32.6 QBR (30th). The Chargers are 0-7 after eight weeks. Many think his time with the team should end, but Los Angeles isn’t planning on moving on from him in the middle of the season.
