Ridiculous Asking Price That Daniel Jones Is Demanding From The Colts Has Leaked Out

There was a time when folks laughed at the Colts for signing quarterback Daniel Jones. After his play last year, nobody was laughing anymore.
If he leaves Indianapolis, Jones would be the most sought-after quarterback in free agency. The Colts do not want that to happen under any circumstances. Even after he suffered a torn right Achilles, teams would be lining up to take him on.
The Indianapolis Colts placed the transition tag on Jones in hopes of retaining him this offseason. However, it’s clear that the signal-caller is hoping to get paid in a big way. It appears both sides are not close during contract negotiations prior to the franchise tag deadline.
Sports Illustrated’s NFL insider Albert Breer shared recently in his mailbag just how far apart the two sides were in negotiations.
“The Colts’ initial offer to Jones was in the range of Sam Darnold’s three-year, $100.5 million deal last offseason,” Breer wrote. Apparently, Daniel Jones wants more.
Daniel Jones Wants $50 Million Per Year
Quarterback Daniel Jones received $40 million per season with the Giants. Now, he wants more after a spectacular season cut short by injury.
Sports Illustrated’s NFL insider Albert Breer says “a deal worth $50 million per year would be more in the ballpark” of what he would’ve accepted before receiving the transition tag. Jones is looking to cash in after a resurgent first season with Indianapolis.

The ex-first-round pick guided the Colts to a 7-1 start while throwing 13 touchdowns to three interceptions. The Colts would then go 1-4 while he threw six touchdowns and five interceptions over a five-game stretch.
Breer noted that it makes sense for the two parties to find middle ground.
Daniel Jones is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, so it would be a major risk for the Colts to commit $50 million to him right now.
