Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed tried to fool the referee during the coin toss for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. But to no avail.

Referee Clay Martin and his crew are officiating the NFC Championship Game between the Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams. Thankfully, Martin remembered the rules about the coin toss.

Before the coin was flipped, the Rams called “heads.” It turned up “tails”, meaning Seattle won the toss. Jarran Reed tried to fool the referee. And though Martin didn’t buy it, he couldn’t help but show a smile at Reed’s trick:

Ironically, Clay Martin was the referee who botched the coin toss for the Carolina Panthers-Atlanta Falcons game on Nov. 16. It appears that he did his homework to remember the coin toss rules after that, though.

The winner of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8. The big game will be held at Levi’s Stadium (home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers), with Bad Bunny headlining the halftime show.
