Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders showed his character with the perfect reaction to Kevin Stefanski’s horrible play call at the end of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Trailing 31-23 with a minute left, Shedeur Sanders threw a touchdown to Harold Fannin Jr. to cut the lead to two. Inexplicably, Stefanski took Sanders off the field for the two-point conversion attempt. This was the play the two-time Coach of the Year drew up, by the way:

Speaking to reporters after the game, Stefanski declined to discuss the play. All he did was give cliché-filled responses, adding that the failed play fell on him.

Shedeur Sanders would have had every reason to express his disappointment at Stefanski. Instead, the rookie signal-caller offered a classy response despite his coach’s embarrassing decision, per Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today:

“If I’m out there any play, I wish I would always have the ball in my hand, but that’s not what football is,” Sanders said. “Sometimes you got to run the ball, sometimes you got to kick a field goal. … I know we practiced something and executed in practice, and we just didn’t seem to execute it today. So I would never go against what the call was or anything.”

Sanders finished the day with 364 passing yards and four total touchdowns. So yes, everyone would love to know what Stefanski was thinking when he took his quarterback out of the two-point conversion play with the game on the line.
