Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady ended their long marriage in the fall of 2022. The couple had shared more than a decade together while raising their children. Brady continued his NFL career well into his forties during that period.

The pair filed for divorce after 13 years and released coordinated statements at the time. Both described the decision as amicable and expressed gratitude for the years they shared. They have maintained a cooperative co-parenting arrangement since then.

A new biography of Brady includes an account of a personal note Bundchen gave him years earlier. Author Lars Anderson writes that she explained the marriage was not working for her after the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss in 2018.

“She needed more of him, more of his time, more of his attention, more of his heart,” Anderson wrote in Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness.

The book states she also wanted more help with the kids and more space for her own career. She reportedly asked him to be fully present at home instead of focusing on his phone or replaying games.

Anderson further describes Brady as often away and notes that football contributed to the imbalance. The biography claims the letter sat in a drawer and that Brady would reread it on occasion.

Bundchen has previously pushed back on simplified versions of the breakup. In a 2023 interview, she described the end of the marriage as more complicated than a single choice between family and career. A recent source close to her told People she is not bitter and remains grateful for their children and the time they shared.

The pair share a son and a daughter from their marriage. Brady also has a son from a previous relationship. Bundchen has since remarried and welcomed another child. Brady has focused on family time and other projects since retiring from the field.

The biography adds context to the long-running discussions around their schedules and priorities. Neither Bundchen nor Brady has publicly confirmed every detail from the book. Their public statements at the time of the divorce emphasized mutual respect and a shared focus on their children.
