Simone Biles and her husband, Chicago Bears defensive back Jonathan Owens, traveled to Italy to watch Team USA and other athletes compete at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The couple, together since 2020, attended the games in Milan, but the experience wasn’t completely pleasant.
The former Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans defender recalled on X that he was nearly robbed in Italy. He detailed that if it wasn’t for one of his habits, the thief would have at least taken his belongings until Owens inevitably caught him.
“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit i had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately….but still crazy,” he tweeted on Sunday.
Jonathan Owens’ Deal With The Chicago Bears Is Up

While he spends quality time in Italy, Jonathan Owens’ NFL future is uncertain. He is an impending free agent after helping the Bears post an 11-6 record and win the NFC North division. Owens recorded 19 tackles in 17 games.
The Bears couldn’t move past the Los Angeles Rams (where his wife caused a stir) in the divisional round of the 2025 NFL playoffs, but they sent a clear message to the rest of the league. Chicago has multiple free agents they should keep, such as Kevin Byard and D’Marco Jackson.
Retaining Owens, who wouldn’t demand a large contract, would help their depth.
