The Patriots-Broncos AFC Championship game isn’t giving us the quarterback battle everyone wanted. However, it has had its fair share of moments.

Coming into the contest amid major officiating problems, social media has gone crazy over one official. And the contest, one person stole the show, standing on the sideline with officiating gear on.

One fan snapped a picture of the guy rocking an NFL hat and an eye-popping coat that commanded attention.

“Can any NFL insiders or super fans ID the super swaggy guy who came out with the officiating crew wearing a FUR REF COAT? Sweet,” an X account said.

Somebody would ask Grok that question, and it turns out he is well-known. It was Carl Johnson, a veteran NFL official (22+ years) serving as alternate line judge for the Broncos-Patriots game.

Here is how social media responded:

“This would be the most hilarious way possible to get caught betting on games,” one fan said.

“This is how Scott Foster looks after he cashes in his winnings,” a second fan wrote.

“He got money on the Broncos money line,” a third fan commented.

“He’s a ref-fur-ree 🤣,” one final fan added.

In the meantime, the AFC Championship game remains a one-score game going into the final quarter of action.
