Just days after Stefon Diggs and the Patriots lost in the Super Bowl, he found himself in court.
The New England Patriots wide receiver was in court Friday to be arraigned on strangulation and other criminal charges. This situation stemmed from an alleged dispute with his former private chef last year.
In December 2025, news emerged that Stefon Diggs had been accused of strangulation and assault against his former personal chef. Court documents claim that the incident happened on Dec. 2. That came one day after the Patriots defeated the New York Giants on ‘Monday Night Football.’
Not helping matters was the texts between him and his personal chef leaking out. It certainly did not paint Stefon Diggs in the best light. Now, days after basically being a no-show in the Super Bowl, he has to show up to court to face charges.
Stefon Diggs Pleads Not Guilty

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs pleaded not guilty Friday to assaulting and strangling his private chef. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf during a brief arraignment in Dedham District Court on Friday, per TMZ.
Diggs arrived in the courtroom wearing a grey sweater, a white collared shirt, and dark jeans.
Stefon Diggs was ordered to have no contact with the victim and released without bail. After entering a plea of not guilty to three criminal charges, Diggs was released on personal recognisance. The case was continued to April 1 for a pre-trial hearing.
After the hearing, Mitchell Schuster, part of Diggs’ legal team, told reporters the allegations are false. “We’re confident that after the facts and evidence are reviewed in this case, he will be completely exonerated,” Schuster said, per TMZ.
Diggs’ arraignment was initially scheduled in Dedham District Court for Jan. 23, but it was postponed to Feb. 13. The Patriots have previously said they support Diggs in this matter, noting he has categorically denied the allegations.
