Stefon Diggs Slammed with Serious Criminal Charges that Could Land Him in Jail for a Long Time Right Before Playoffs

New England Patriots wide receiver Steffon Diggs is reportedly facing multiple criminal charges. 

According to Boston 25 News, the Pats superstar has been charged over an incident that occurred on December 2, a day after they beat the New York Giants. 

The outlet is reporting that Diggs has been charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery. 

“Diggs is charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges stemming from an incident on Tuesday, Dec. 2, a day after the Patriots thrashed the New York Giants, court documents show,” the publication notes. 

A lawyer for the wide receiver appeared in Dedham court on Tuesday. He argued that details should remain sealed as he sought to have the police report impounded. 

“A judge has not yet ruled on that request,” Boston 25 News adds. 

Stefon Diggs To Be Arraigned In January

Diggs will be arraigned on Friday, January 23. This is just two days before the AFC Championship game, although the Pats aren’t yet guaranteed to be in it. 

The team won its first division title since 2019 in Week 17. They could secure a first-round bye if the Los Angeles Chargers beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday. However, that will be a lot harder to do, given that they’re resting Justin Herbert. 

Diggs recently went viral for seemingly fooling his girlfriend, Cardi B, with a bogus engagement proposal. He has hauled in 82 catches for 970 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. 

Meanwhile, the outlet awaits comment from the team.
