Stephen A Smith has very real designs on the American presidency.
The ESPN personality has been entertaining the possibility of a potential run at the highest seat in the land for over a year now. And, according to CBS national correspondent Robert Costa, he’s edging closer to a presidential campaign.
Costa hosted Smith in an interview set to air on Sunday morning and suggested that sitting with the ‘First Take’ host reminded him of the time he spent with Donald Trump before he first ran for office.
“Stephen A. Smith is moving closer to a 2028 campaign… spending a few days with him in recent months reminded me of spending a few days with Trump back in 2013-2014. Many laughed at the prospect of a bid. But in an age of celebrity and social media…,” he wrote.
“I was interrogated, but I did my best,” Smith said in a teaser.“I did my best.”
Stephen A Smith Isn’t Buying Donald Trump’s Endorsement

Trump himself has backed Stephen A. for a 2028 presidential run. The President talked up Smith’s ability to entertain, admitting he loves watching the analyst.
“I love watching him. He’s got great entertainment skills, which is very important,” Trump said when he called in on the NewsNation town hall last year. “People watch him. You know, a lot of these Democrats I watch, I say they have no chance. I’ve been pretty good at picking people and picking candidates. And I will tell you, I’d love to see him run.”
Smith was among those who agreed with Trump’s take on Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this week. However, he isn’t buying the POTUS’s endorsement.
“I’m not falling for it,” he replied back then. “It was nice to hear and I appreciated it, but obviously, it is what it is. I hear where he’s coming from, but I wasn’t thinking about it any more seriously than that.”
