The Cleveland Browns Just Got Brutally Rejected By Another Head Coaching Candidate

The Cleveland Browns have lost another head coaching candidate, as Grant Udinski has decided to go in another direction.
Grant Udinski, the 30-year-old Jacksonville Jaguars’ offensive coordinator, held a second interview for the Browns’ HC vacancy last week. The Browns are one of four teams without a head coach, along with the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Udinski has removed himself from the Browns’ head coaching search. Garafolo added that he’s on the verge of receiving a new deal from the Jaguars, though it’s still possible that he’ll take the Bills’ HC job.
Udinski also interviewed with the Bills, who fired Sean McDermott in a stunning move after last week’s Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos. So, Udinski either stays with one AFC powerhouse in Duval County, or he gets to coach Josh Allen in Buffalo.
Cleveland’s HC job opened up after the questionable decision to fire two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski. But he wasn’t out of work for long, as the Atlanta Falcons hired Stefanski as their new head coach after moving on from Raheem Morris.
If He Stays With Jags, Grant Udinski Should Be Another Top Candidate In 2027

Obviously, it would be tough for Udinski to pass up the Bills’ job if they offered it to him. The chance to coach an elite quarterback like Josh Allen, whose club is always in title contention, would be a dream opportunity for many coaches.
But, staying in Jacksonville would be no harm, either. Udinski can stick around with Liam Coen and help the Jags offense reach another level in 2026, with a healthy Travis Hunter and a full season of Jakobi Meyers in the fold.
If Udinski stays and has another good year as the Jags’ OC, it’ll strengthen his resume and appeal in next year’s coaching hiring cycle. There is no issue in sticking with the Jags for another year.
