The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t seem to be safe from controversy. After finally reuniting with Aaron Rodgers for one more season, the Steelers began this year’s OTAs.

Drama followed them this week, as they fired senior special teams assistant Derius Swinton II. Reports said that the team made the decision after Swinton violated an unspecified policy.

Since then, questions have arisen, and nobody appears to have a concrete answer.

Why Did the Pittsburgh Steelers Fire the Coach Amid OTAs?

ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reported on Friday that Swinton’s firing stemmed from “workplace misconduct.”

“Though the Steelers declined to provide the exact violation, Swinton, who was hired as part of new coach Mike McCarthy’s staff earlier this year, was dismissed due to workplace misconduct, a team source told ESPN,” Pryor wrote.

“Swinton did not return a request for comment.”

After sorting out their biggest issue of the offseason, the Steelers have more work to do. They have renewed expectations after bringing Rodgers back and revamping their offense. However, losing someone with Swinton’s experience could prove fatal this season.
