Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce recalled how hard it was for him to make it in the corporate world. Kelce tried to make a living like a regular person after he was thrown off the University of Cincinnati football team.
Things would have taken a different route for the future three-time Super Bowl champion in the early 2010s. Before all the fame, the big contracts, and the success he enjoyed on the field, Kelce worked as a telemarketer.
During the most recent episode of his joint “New Heights” podcast, the tight end revealed a big secret of his job life.

The Kelce brothers had the cast of “Workaholics” as guests this week. Kelce revealed he was a telemarketer, too, adding that he worked for Obamacare.
“I was the worst telemarketer in the f***ing world,” he said. “I was slinging surveys for Obamacare.”
He added that the experience and his clear lack of ability with the public made him reflect on his decisions. He returned to Cincinnati and worked hard until making it to the league.
“All I had been doing is playing outside, playing sports my entire life. I had never sat down and tried to earn a living like that. That’s not to hit on anybody’s 9-to-5; that’s just not for me. ‘The light at the end of the tunnel was that if I do what I’m supposed to do instead of being a knucklehead, I can have a way better life than this.”
The Chiefs picked him with the No. 63 pick in the 2013 draft. Kelce went on to become one of the best tight ends in league history while winning three Super Bowl trophies.
