Travis Kelce’s Unbreakable Loyalty to Chiefs Exposed: Ditches Huge Paydays from Rival Teams – Here’s the Real Reason Behind It

Travis Kelce’s future with the Chiefs was a source of speculation around the NFL in the months leading up to the 2026 free agency. The veteran tight end saw his team miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014, which sparked rumors of a potential retirement.
With Eric Bieniemy back as offensive coordinator, Patrick Mahomes recovering from an ACL injury and the addition of Kenneth Walker to the running back room, the Chiefs look like serious candidates to compete next campaign.
Amid all the rumors, Kelce returned on a one-year, $15 million deal with the AFC West franchise. Other teams were mentioned as potential landing spots, but the tight end chose to be loyal to the Chiefs.
Travis Kelce Received Huge Offers From Opposing Teams

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs didn’t offer Kelce the heaviest contract. However, he turned down more lucrative offers to return to his first and only team in the league.
“It’s been a roller coaster for Travis Kelce. He has only played for the Chiefs. A lot of people assumed he’d just come back and sign whatever deal was available. He was expected to get significant interest that likely would’ve put him at the top of the tight end market based on how he played last year. A Pro Bowler, certainly playing near the top of his game,” Rapoport said.
“But that’s not really what Travis Kelce is about. He is turning down more money to stay in Kansas City, to be loyal, to be with Patrick Mahomes, and to continue having another shot at the Super Bowl.”
Kelce played 17 games in 2025, catching 76 passes for 851 yards and five touchdowns for Kansas City.
