United States President Donald Trump has denied being a racist for the umpteenth time. But this time around, he name-dropped some of the most famous Black athletes to ever grace the sports world, putting their friendship on exhibit.
The POTUS gave an address at an event for Black History Month this week and explained in succinct terms why it’s not possible for him to hate Blacks.
“Mike Tyson. He has been loyal to me,” Trump said of the former heavyweight champion. “Whenever they come out and they say Trump is a racist, Mike goes he’s not a racist.”
Trump also referenced former NFL star Herschell Walker, who’s now a politician and ambassador to the Bahamas. He wasn’t sure whether it was the Bahamas or Bermuda, but settled on “a very nice place.”
He then discussed his relationships with other football greats, including Jim Brown and Lawrence Taylor.
“He was silent but deadly,” Trump said of Brown. “He’d come in and he’d look at people and if he didn’t like em’, he’d just look at me and he’d go, ‘No good’.”
“I would say there can’t be a better football player than Jim Brown,” he concluded.
Donald Trump Calls Lawrence Taylor “A Great Friend”

As for Taylor, Trump said the ex-NY Giants linebacker was “probably the greatest defensive player in the history of football.”
“He’s a great friend of mine,” he added, before going on to compare their golf swings.

So there you have it. He’s not racist.
Of note, Trump appointed Taylor to his Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition last year.
“I’m proud to be on this team. I don’t know what we’re supposed to be doing, but I’m here to serve. I’m here to serve you,” Taylor said then. “I’m going to do the best I can for as long as I can.”
The exact role he was expected to play was not made clear.
