The Tush Push has been one of the more controversial plays in recent years and has been a source of rife debate.

While it survived a potential NFL ban last season, it’s been outlawed in another league.

Rich McKay, the co-chair of the league’s competition committee, has suggested that the Tush Push will be back next season in all likelihood.

McKay spoke to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine this week and revealed that there have been no proposals to ban the play this year.

“There’s no team proposal that I’ve seen from it,” he said, per ESPN.“So, I wouldn’t envision it. But you never know.”

The Brotherly Shove appears to be safe in the NFL for at least one more season. But that isn’t the case in the UFL.

The spring league has announced several rule changes for its upcoming 2026 campaign, including the removal of the Tush Push.

“The league has eliminated the Tush Push, a play in which after the quarterback takes the snap, he immediately drives forward as the offensive line surges and is assisted by additional players behind him who physically push him forward into the surging offensive line,” the UFL noted in a press release.

McKay has also indicated that this year will not be notable in terms of significant rule changes. He insisted that “the game is in a pretty good place.”

The Green Bay Packers tabled a proposal to ban the play in the NFL last year. However, they could not get enough teams to side with them.

They were only two votes shy of the 24 required. Even so, it doesn’t appear that there will be any efforts to get a first down in that regard this offseason.
