Dave Portnoy took to social media Monday with an unusual update. It had nothing to do with sports, as is the case a lot of the time.

The Barstool Sports founder described a chaotic scene that unfolded at the company’s New York headquarters. An Uber Eats delivery dispute quickly spiraled into something much bigger.

By the time it ended, police had made an arrest.

According to Portnoy, the trouble started when an Uber Eats driver got into an argument with a Barstool staffer named Gia over her order. Security guard Dan stepped into the hallway to ask the driver to leave. Instead, Portnoy says the driver attacked him. “Beat him up pretty good,” Portnoy wrote in his post.

Another colleague pulled the attacker off Dan. More staff rushed in quickly to help as the situation unfolded. Portnoy specifically credited employee Tom Scibelli for his response, saying Scibelli helped secure and lock down the office amid the chaos. “Bravery like this can not go unnoticed,” he wrote.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested the driver, Portnoy said. He added that Dan, the security guard, may need a few stitches after the altercation.

Portnoy Has Documented Staff Incidents Publicly Before

This isn’t the first time Portnoy has used his platform to detail chaos involving his own employees. Earlier this year, he called out staffers directly after several of them got into a car accident during a work trip in London, sharing photos and venting about the situation on X.

Portnoy has built a reputation for narrating incidents involving Barstool’s staff and culture in real time, often turning ordinary office chaos into content for his massive following.

As of publication, no outside law enforcement agency or news outlet has independently confirmed the arrest or identified the driver involved. The account comes directly from Portnoy’s own recap, shared shortly after the incident occurred.
