Viral Nick Bosa Quote Has NFL Fans Tripping Out After San Francisco 49ers’ Win

San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa became a topic of discussion after Thursday night’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. But all of that wasn’t even about something real.
Heading into the season opener, nobody was really sure how much Bosa would play. He had missed part of training camp while working his way back from a torn ACL. He still played against the Rams and looked great, finishing the 27-7 win with four tackles, two tackles for loss, and a hit on the quarterback.
Before the game, an account called “NFL Drop” shared a quote that falsely claimed Bosa wanted to honor Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The post quoted Bosa as saying, “Today it means more, I’m winning this for him.”
Bosa never said any of that.
Even so, the post got over 290,000 views in less than a day, tricking a ton of people before and during the game.
Fake Quotes Have Targeted NFL Players Before

The Bosa post follows a pattern that has affected other NFL players.
During the 2025 season, 49ers tight end George Kittle faced a similar situation. A fake quote linked him to Kirk. Kittle responded directly and made it clear that the quote did not come from him.
49ers DE Nick Bosa was asked why playing on September 10th was so important to him:

“Couple of things.. this is a fake quote,” Kittle wrote. “I hope most of you realize that. Also, that above account only posts fake news/reports, please ignore them. The wild messages I’m receiving from people made me have to address it. Have a good night.”
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud also faced a similar fake post during the 2025 season.
These posts can spread quickly when they involve well-known athletes and major events. Fans may share them before checking whether the player actually made the statement.
Bosa’s strong return against the Rams gave fans plenty to discuss on its own. His performance also helped the 49ers start the season with a convincing win.
