The Washington Commanders continue showing fans how incredible their new stadium will look. The NFC East team will return to their old Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C., in 2030, nearly 30 years since they moved to Northwest Stadium in Landover.
Two months after releasing the first renderings of their state-of-the-art new stadium, they shared more on Wednesday. Washington has become a better and more respectable franchise under Josh Harris, and the new stadium will surely take the fan experience to a whole new level.
An Instagram post showed a closer look at their new stadium. It included the aerial view of the west entrance, the fans’ view from the same spot, the front door view of the west entrance and the aerial view of the east entrance. It also included the view from the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge.
Washington Commanders’ New Stadium Roof Will Mark A New Era In The NFL
The designers behind the Washington Commanders’ new stadium raised the bar for NFL teams. In January, Nick Jhabvala of The Athletic shared details of the stadium. It will include a transparent roof that no other professional team in the world has.
“The roof of the Commanders’ new stadium will be ‘anticlastic,’ or shaped like a Pringle,” Jhabvala wrote. “So, unlike U.S. Bank Stadium, which has a lattice of steel trestles that support its clear roof but ultimately impede the view, the Commanders’ will have a cable net system to create ‘the most transparent roof that will enclose a large stadium anywhere on the planet,’ according to one person directly involved in the stadium design and planning.”
Washington’s turnaround has been nothing but remarkable. They have a team that should compete for important things. Putting them in a stadium with these incredible features will make fans love the franchise even more.
