The NFL quarterback market will have plenty of options in 2026. Several teams decided to move on from their signal callers after the 2025 season, but not everybody will have the chance to land a new job.

Teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and even the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons could need a new playmaker.

The market will offer several solid options, including Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, and Tua Tagovailoa. On Friday, another name joined the growing list. The Las Vegas Raiders decided to release veteran Geno Smith in a move that paves the way for Fernando Mendoza to take over.

Las Vegas reportedly wants to have a veteran quarterback alongside Mendoza, but Smith didn’t live up to the expectations last season. He would have several options to take on a new challenge in the league, but, similar to Murray, an opportunity in a different field came up unexpectedly.

Wendy’s reacted to the report of Smith’s release with a brutal message. They offered the veteran quarterback a job in case he didn’t find anything in the upcoming free market.

“.@GenoSmith3 in case things don’t work out in free agency we’re looking for a Chief Tasting Officer…” they tweeted.

The post sent fans into a frenzy. Many laughed and trolled the quarterback over the post.

Smith played one season with the Raiders, going 302 of 448 for 3,025 yards and 19 touchdowns with 17 interceptions. After two decent seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, he couldn’t keep up with Las Vegas, earning a lot of criticism in the process. It remains to be seen if any team would give him a new opportunity.
