The Philadelphia Eagles have officially named Sean Mannion as their offensive coordinator ahead of the 2026 NFL season, a move designed to reinvigorate an offense that struggled in 2025. Mannion, a young coach with a unique background as both a former NFL quarterback and a rapidly rising coach, brings fresh perspective and strategic thinking to the Eagles’ offensive leadership.

After finishing the 2025 season with disappointing offensive rankings and an early playoff exit, the Eagles decided to replace offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and invest in new leadership for their offense.

That decision led them to Sean Mannion, who at 33 years old becomes the latest offensive coordinator in Philadelphia under head coach Nick Sirianni

Early Life and Playing Career

Sean Thomas Mannion was born on April 25, 1992, in San Jose, California, and attended Foothill High School in Pleasanton. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Mannion excelled in football and later became a standout quarterback at Oregon State University.

In the 2015 NFL Draft, Mannion was selected in the third round (No. 89 overall) by the St. Louis Rams. Although he spent nine seasons in the NFL with the Rams, Vikings, and Seahawks, he primarily served as a backup quarterback, appearing in 14 career games with a single touchdown pass.

Transition from Player to Coach

After ending his playing career following the 2023 season, Mannion transitioned into coaching. He joined the Green Bay Packers in February 2024 as an offensive assistant. As a result, the role allowed him to begin shaping his coaching philosophy and work closely with professional quarterbacks.

In January 2025, Mannion was promoted to quarterbacks coach for the Packers. There, he played a part in developing Jordan Love, who posted strong passing numbers, and Malik Willis, who excelled in limited action.

Eagles Offensive Coordinator: What It Means

In January 2026, the Eagles officially announced Mannion as their new offensive coordinator. He replaces Kevin Patullo, who was dismissed after a disappointing season. In 2025, the Eagles’ offense finished in the lower tier of the NFL in both yardage and scoring.
