Scott Hanson has cleared the air following his sketchy sign-off from ‘NFL RedZone’ on Sunday.

There was legitimate concern that the popular host might leave the show last year. Hanson’s talks with another network sparked fears of a ‘RedZone’ departure, but he returned and remains the voice many football fans are used to hearing on a Sunday afternoon.

The 54-year-old signed a new contract to remain with the show last May. He confirmed he was sticking around even after ESPN finalized a deal to buy NFL Media.

However, fears have resurfaced, given how Hanson ended the show in Week 18. He was noticeably emotional when saying his goodbyes and made no mention of returning in September.

“I am very scared Scott Hanson is leaving RedZone. He almost cried on live TV and didn’t say see you September,” one fan tweeted on Sunday evening. “Also made a comment saying “don’t cry that it’s over.”

Hanson sought to allay concerns, responding directly to the fan. He attributed his emotions to being caught up in the moment.

“Thanks for the concern, Myles. Appreciate the love. I just got caught up in the moment,” he wrote. “Hit me right that second … all the hard work and sacrifice from our crew. I’ll be back – and we will see you in September!! Enjoy the playoffs.”

Hanson and ‘RedZone’ could be on ESPN platforms by the time they return next season. Regulators would likely have approved the move by then.

ESPN will license the show as part of its deal with the NFL. They are still waiting on approval from the federal government, while ‘RedZone’ was the source of some frustration this season due to their expected takeover.

In any case, Hanson will be back, barring something unexpected.
