Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz could be done for the season following a devastating injury that left him in tears on Sunday.

The TE got hit low by a Minnesota Vikings defender after leaping for a pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota. The tackle altered his landing, causing his leg to bend unnaturally.

Zach Ertz was placed in an air cast and carted off the field after the injury. He appeared to be very emotional on the sideline while Mariota consoled him.

Mariota, who has been accused of throwing Ertz a “hospital ball,” was only in the game because of a prior injury.

He came on for Jayden Daniels, who made his return against the Vikings on Sunday. The second-year QB appeared to aggravate his elbow injury after falling on his left arm. 

The Commanders were trailing the Vikings 31-0 in the fourth quarter at the time of writing. They are likely headed for a loss.
