Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski gave an honest evaluation of Shedeur Sanders’ second NFL start, an ugly 26-8 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Shedeur Sanders was named the starter for Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders. After leading the Browns to a 24-10 victory, Sanders got the nod for the 49ers game, marking his first NFL start at home.
Sanders stood little chance behind the 49ers’ dangerous front seven. It didn’t help that Jerry Jeudy appeared to quit on a deep ball that could have led to a touchdown. Sanders finished the day with 16 completions for 149 yards and one touchdown.
Speaking to reporters, Kevin Stefanski evaluated Shedeur Sanders’ second NFL start. The two-time Coach of the Year said were “good moments” but also plays the rookie will want back:
“Yeah. Again, Shedeur had some really good moments in that football game. There are things that he wants back that we’re coaching up right now that he can improve upon. But bottom line is we have to continue to put our players in position to succeed.
For the young quarterback, you only get better with more turns at this thing in these games, as you see more coverages, as you see more defenses and as you prepare versus different defenses. So just looking forward to that constant improvement with Shedeur and for all of our young players.”
Over his first three game appearances, Sanders has completed 50.8 percent of pass attempts for 405 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll start Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans.
Shedeur Sanders Gets An Opportunity To Prove Himself

It’s been quite the game of “musical chairs” at QB spot in Cleveland this season Joe Flacco started their first four games before getting traded to the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals, putting Gabriel in the starting spot.
Gabriel made six starts before leaving the Browns’ Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens with a concussion. He went 1-5 with 937 passing yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.
For Stefanski, Sanders played well enough to earn a third consecutive start against the Titans. Now, we wait and see if he can show improvement over his first two starts and lock down the starting quarterback job.
