Despite a career game from Shedeur Sanders on Sunday, Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe thinks he should see the bench for the rest of the season.

Sanders threw for 364 yards and recorded four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) in the Cleveland Browns’ 31-29 home loss to the Tennessee Titans. If not for a horrific play call by Kevin Stefanski at the end of the game, Sanders might have led his team to victory.

The Cleveland offense has enjoyed a nice spark under Sanders. They only exceeded 20 points once in their first 10 games. Over Sanders’ first three starts, they’ve scored 24-plus points twice.

During the latest episode of the “Nightcap” podcast that he co-hosts with Chad Ochocinco, Shannon Sharpe suggested that Shedeur Sanders be benched for the Browns’ final four games of 2025.

The reason? Sharpe wonders if the Browns are setting up their rookie QB to fail:

“If I’m Shedeur, I’m like, Nah, I’m good. I already showed y’all what I can do. Put Dillon (Gabriel) in there…This is not a mistake…Why couldn’t you name his a*s the starter three games ago? Why was it week to week?”

The Browns have already announced that Shedeur Sanders will remain the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Cleveland visits the 9-4 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.

Fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel lost five of his first six starts before suffering a concussion in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens. That forced the Browns to play Sanders. The latter won his first start against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 and hasn’t looked back.

The Browns have had a ridiculously long list of starting quarterbacks since they were reactivated as a franchise in 1999.

Sanders has a long way to go, but it’s hard not to be excited about the early flashes he’s shown. After all, Gabriel and 40-year-old Joe Flacco couldn’t get the offense going with the same supporting cast.
