It’s been a long time since NFL fans have heard the name Najee Harris. Well, he became a trending topic on social media this week.
Harris has had accomplishments at both the collegiate and professional levels. He previously broke school records at Alabama and rushed for over 1,000 yards in his first three NFL seasons.
In 2021, he was named to the Pro Bowl. He was also honored by the Pro Football Writers of America that season. In that year, he rushed for 1,200 yards, and then 1,034 yards in 2022, and 1,035 yards in 2023.
Najee Harris then followed that up with a 1,043-yard season in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He did not miss a single game due to injury through his first four professional seasons.
A Surprising Move in the Free Agent Market

Free-agent running back Najee Harris is looking to get on a squad for the upcoming season. On Monday morning, league insiders confirmed that the former first-round pick traveled to East Rutherford for a visit.
The front office is actively exploring options to add depth to the starting offensive rotation. Specifically, Najee Harris offers a highly durable, physical rushing style that could drastically improve their short-yardage conversions.
Consequently, signing a former Pro Bowler represents a relatively low-risk move with massive potential upside for the franchise.
The Giants Desperately Need Najee Harris

The 28-year-old, who was with the Chargers last season, is making his way back from a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 3 last year. The Giants have Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Eric Gray among their group of running backs.
However, Cam Skattebo suffered a severe right ankle dislocation, an open tibia fracture, and a ruptured deltoid ligament last year. Running back Dante Miller was waived with a groin and abdominal injury.
Adding a potential threat like Najee Harris can more than help a struggling Giants squad that could use his veteran presence.
