Longtime NFL Reporter Makes Devastating Announcement That His Wife Tragically Died

Longtime NFL reporter Jay Morrison has made a devastating and heartbreaking announcement regarding his wife.
Morrison covers the Cincinnati Bengals for Sports Illustrated and has been covering the league for 30 years. He previously worked for The Athletic, the Dayton Daily News, and Pro Football Network.
He watched the Bengals’ win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but it was with a heavy heart.
Morrison disclosed on Monday that his wife and partner of 37 years, Nicki, is set to go off life support, with Sunday having been their first and last Bengals game together.
“For the first time in 14 years, I watched a Bengals game with my wife Nicki yesterday. It will be her last,” he wrote in a post on X.
Making this even more heartbreaking is that Nicki was undergoing a routine medical procedure when something went wrong. The family is waiting on organ transplant matches before she goes off life support.
“What should have been a routine medical procedure on Friday turned catastrophic. She has been on life support since, waiting on organ recipient matches, her final gift in a magnificently beautiful and selfless life,” he added.
“We will be saying our final goodbyes today and removing her from the machines.”

Jay Morrison To Step Away From Bengals Reporting Indefinitely

Morrison also revealed he will be taking time off, given the situation.
“My heart is shattered and my world is obliterated. I am only sharing this publicly to let all of you know I will be stepping away from the Bengals coverage for an indefinite period of time. For those of you who know me personally and may want to pay respects, there will not be a funeral. It’s something we talked about a lot a few months ago when my mom passed.
“Instead, there will be a celebration of life once my daughter, son and I compose ourselves enough to plan a party worth of the most beautiful, caring, rocker chick I’ve been proud to share a life with for 37 years.”
This is a terrible thing for anyone to have to go through, especially given that it was totally unexpected. What was a simple medical procedure has turned into something tragic, and it will be challenging to find comfort and move on.
We sympathize with Jay Morrison and his family during this extremely difficult period.
They will be in our thoughts.
