Ryan Clark Drops Massive Bombshell On ESPN That Nobody Saw Coming

Ryan Clark has put ESPN on blast for the verbiage used to relay his departure from the network. 

Clark joined several other big names who left The Worldwide Leader in Sports this week. The company also let go of Cam Newton, Karl Ravech and others as part of their latest round of layoffs. 

The former Pittsburgh Steelers safety hasn’t walked away quietly. 

With Newton having addressed his dismissal on his ‘4th & 1’ podcast, Clark has followed suit. The controversial analyst discussed his exit on his own show, ‘The Pivot,’ on Friday. He made it clear that he was not laid off but was actually fired. 

Clark accused ESPN of dressing his termination up as a layoff because they didn’t have any cause to fire him.

“Let me put this to bed, I wasn’t laid off,” he said. “I was fired. (ESPN) is using ‘laid off’ as a cover, a camouflage for what they already intended on doing.”

ESPN dropped Clark while he was on ‘NFL Live’. They informed him while he was on air, and he did not return. 

ESPN Had Enough Of Ryan Clark After Multiple Apologies

The network may argue that they had cause; it just wasn’t enough to fire him at the time. 

Andrew Marchand, who broke the news of Clark’s firing, noted that there was frustration among ESPN high-ups where Clark was concerned.

The 46-year-old had been forced to apologize both on air and in social media statements a bit too often. There was that infamous attempt to belittle former colleague Peter Schrager live on air last year. 

Clark also had a war of words with former teammate and ESPN coworker Robert Griffin III, criticizing his interracial marriage. 

RGII did call for ESPN to fire Clark back then, which the company refused to do. However, they did not allow him to slip through their latest round of releases.
