Maxx Crosby’s turbulent 2025 season is officially over.
On Friday, news broke that Maxx Crosby left the Las Vegas Raiders’ facility after being told that the club was shutting him down for the rest of the year. The 28-year-old was reportedly unhappy, wanting to end the season after battling numerous injuries.
Raiders head coach Pete Carroll admitted that it was a difficult discussion to have with Crosby. On Saturday, they made the news official.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have placed Crosby on the season-ending injured reserve. The five-time Pro Bowler requires knee surgery that requires a lengthy recovery, Schefter added.
In a statement shared on X/Twitter, the Raiders said the move “is in the best interest of both” parties. The Raiders conclude their season with home games against the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs.

Maxx Crosby Was One Of The Raiders’ Few Positives In 2025

The Raiders made several blockbuster moves in the offseason. The first was the hiring of Pete Carroll and John Spytek. They traded for Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith and used the No. 6 pick on can’t-miss running back prospect Ashton Jeanty.
But nothing has gone according to plan for the 2025 Raiders. They tie the Giants for the worst record in football, and the loser of tomorrow’s game will sit in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 pick.
Crosby did his part to keep Vegas in games, finishing this season with 10 sacks in 15 games.
