Massive Traded Package Needed For Joe Burrow Blockbuster Deal Has Been Revealed – One Team Named As Potential Suitor

This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

The idea of Joe Burrow leaving Cincinnati sounds far-fetched. Still, it keeps coming up in NFL circles. League insiders say the price would be huge.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports laid out what that cost could look like. He made it clear that any Burrow trade would reset the market. Teams would not negotiate lightly for a quarterback of his caliber, and such crazy type offers were also made earlier for Burrow.

Jones pointed to the Deshaun Watson trade as the starting point for Joe Burrow trade. He said, “The floor for any such deal would seemingly be the Deshaun Watson trade from 2022. The Browns sent three first-round picks, two second-rounders, and one third to the Texans to acquire Watson (and a sixth-round pick).”

“But even that wasn’t enough for one AFC team executive,” Jones wrote. The executive told CBS Sports a “Ricky Williams type” trade would need to happen. New Orleans once sent its entire 1999 draft and two future first-round picks to Washington to move up and draft Williams.

That context matters if Cincinnati ever listens to offers. One team stands out if talks ever start, that is the New York Jets.

Why The Jets Could Get Desperate

Jones pointed out that no team has more draft power than the Jets. New York owns two first-round and two second-round picks in 2026, plus three first-rounders in 2027, including the No. 5 pick. Jones said those picks could land almost any player if a team put one up for trade.

The Jets face a clear problem, which is that they don’t have a franchise quarterback. History shows they rarely stick with one long-term. They’ve tried everything, from trading for stars like Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre to drafting Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, and Mark Sanchez, and signing free agents like Justin Fields. Nothing worked.

Even with a strong defense, the Jets still struggled to win. They had stars like Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, though Gardner was later traded to the Colts , but the Jets still lost games because of weak quarterback play. Radio host Craig Carton even suggested trading four first-rounders and a second-round pick for Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City would never agree, but the idea shows how desperate the Jets are.

Carton’s co-host Tyrone Johnson summed it up. The Jets struggle to draft well. He said, “You still have to make that phone call.”

That thinking drives the Burrow talk. Teams either have quarterbacks or they don’t. If you don’t, you stay stuck.

For the Jets, the plan feels simple. Try everything. Trade up. Trade big. Chase the best option. Just get the quarterback right.
