The Kansas City Chiefs needed to make a move after a dismal season. On Tuesday, the team moved on from a coach. With their embarrassing exit, changes are inevitable.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Chiefs have parted ways with wide receivers coach Connor Embree. The Chiefs finished with a woeful 6-11 record despite retaining the team’s star-studded core. That included Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Kareem Hunt, Isiah Pacheco, Hollywood Brown, and more.
“The Chiefs are moving on from WRs coach Connor Embree, a source said. There may be other changes to Andy Reid’s staff, but this talented group will have a new coach in 2026,” wrote Rapoport on X.

Embree spent seven seasons with the Chiefs organization. He joined as a defensive assistant in 2019. The Chiefs haven’t had a player hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark since Travis Kelce in 2022.
The Kansas City Chiefs Are In Trouble

Kansas City missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Heads were surely going to roll as a result. 2026 is not looking any better after Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL last month.
To make matters worse, the Kansas City Chiefs might deal with a real possibility of parting with Rashee Rice. The receiver room has been a major issue for the Chiefs over the past three seasons. It is surely going to get much worse amid the recent news.
Rashee Rice’s ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence in a post on social media. Dacoda Nichole said she and Rice broke up in the last few months. She further claimed abuse occurred over the course of years. Nichole added she was, “so tired of keeping quiet, I’m so tired of protecting his image.” The Chiefs, in a statement to Front Office Sports, said they are aware of the allegations against Rice.
The Kansas City Chiefs have a real issue on their hands with Rice. They may have to wash their hands of his off-the-field problems.
