Cowboys defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku has kicked off the season by breaking the law. He was arrested on Sunday in Texas.

The standout DE was arrested on a reckless driving charge, per CBS News Texas. Collin County jail records show that the Department of Public Safety arrested Ezeiruaku. He was released the same day with a $500 bond.

“We are aware of the situation,” the Cowboys said in a statement.

Donovan Ezeiruaku, Dallas’ second-round selection out of Boston College, played in all 17 games for the Cowboys as a rookie.

Ezeiruaku is just one of many Cowboys players who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law. We can just start with 2025. Jadeveon Clowney had just signed with the team when bad news came out. He was arrested on Sept. 12 in York County for trespassing and failure to identify. Clowney faced misdemeanor charges of trespassing and failure to identify.

KaVontae Turpin was booked for possession of marijuana under two ounces. It was a Class B misdemeanor. He also caught a misdemeanor for unlawful carrying of a weapon. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph was arrested in June 2025 and charged with DWI and a collision involving death. Joseph left the scene but later called the police, admitting involvement. He is still facing a wrongful death lawsuit.

Donovan Ezeiruaku finished his rookie season with two sacks, 40 tackles, and 12 quarterback hits in 12 games. He flashed his pass-rushing potential in 2025. Ezeiruaku will look to build on it and become a force on the Cowboys’ defense in 2026. He will be playing under another defensive coordinator. Dallas fired Matt Eberflus after a disappointing 2025.

The first thing he should do is stay out of trouble off the field.
