A.J. Brown spent another complex season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran wide receiver once again starred in controversies due to his unhappiness with the way the offense operated. The Eagles were a run-heavy team again, with Jalen Hurts running the ball more than before, forcing Brown to take a back seat again.

The Eagles failed to defend their Super Bowl title, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round on Jan. 11. Brown was targeted seven times, catching three passes for 25 yards. He dropped a crucial pass that many thought could have changed the outcome of the game.

Brown was seen going at it with coach Nick Sirianni on the sideline, which added fuel to the rumors that he is done with the NFC East franchise. The former Tennessee Titans star has been linked with the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens recently, but another team in need of a true WR1 has emerged.

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler predicted on Tuesday that the Eagles would trade A.J. Brown to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason. The Bills haven’t had a true WR1 after Stefon Diggs left for the Houston Texans, and Brown’s unhappiness in Philadelphia could unlock the door for this move.

“Brown’s happy-to-be-here quotient in Philly is miserably low,” Fowler wrote. “He’s a great player and great players are hard to replace. But the Eagles have never been scared to make a move due to the salary cap implications. The Eagles actually can save $7 million on the cap by trading Brown after June 1.

“And it feels like it’s time. Some league execs have felt that way since October.”

Contrary to the Eagles, the Buffalo Bills could give Brown a true chance to shine. They still have James Cook dominating the running game and Josh Allen making plays with his legs now and then, but they need to unlock their aerial game to reach the next level.

Brandon Aiyuk was mentioned as a potential target, too, but Brown isn’t injury prone and is only one year older.
