The man who was shot dead by federal agents in Minneapolis was 37-year-old intensive care nurse Alex Pretti. His death has sparked outrage and unrest in the city.
In released footage, an agent fired at Pretti, who they claim had a handgun, and resisted attempts to disarm him. Multiple gunshots could be heard going off from agents during that anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis.
The US Department of Homeland Security claimed that the man was armed during his struggle with the officers. However, Pretti’s family rejected the narrative as ‘reprehensible and disgusting,’ saying videos show he was not holding a gun.
In the meantime, the sports world has reacted to the shooting. The NBA postponed a game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors as a result. This marked the second shooting there in a week. It’s also the third shooting in which a federal officer was involved.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also gave his long opinion on the situation. Now, legendary NFL star John Randle is asking for prayers.

Alex Pretti had no criminal record. His family said he had never had any interactions with law enforcement beyond a handful of traffic tickets. In a recent conversation with their son, his parents told him to be careful when protesting, per The AP.
The 37-year-old worked for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System as an ICU nurse. No charges have been filed as of this writing.
