Kirk Cousins Linked to 3 Shocking NFL Teams Amid Explosive Falcons Split

Four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins may be headed toward a divorce with the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran spent his second season with the NFC South team, taking over from Michael Penix Jr., who suffered a season-ending injury.
Cousins started his tenure in Atlanta as the starter, but after a series of bad results and inconsistent performances, former coach Raheem Morris benched him. He returned to the field and played 10 games in 2025, going 166 of 269 for 1,721 yards and 10 touchdowns with five interceptions.
With Matt Ryan taking over as the Falcons’ President of Football, the team has undergone several changes. Kevin Stefanski is their new head coach, and Cousins could be shown the exit door, according to The Athletic. If he doesn’t return to Atlanta on a new, less expensive contract, multiple teams could show interest in his services.
Kirk Cousins Could Help 3 NFL Teams In 2026

Cousins’ market might not be as weak as some think. Chris Rosvoglou of The Spun listed three teams that Cousins could immediately help in the 2026 NFL season.
For starters, a return to Minnesota might be in the cards. After losing Sam Darnold to the Seattle Seahawks in free agency and failing to retain Daniel Jones, too, the Vikings need a veteran presence in the quarterback room. Cousins played under Kevin O’Connell before, which is a plus in this scenario.
Another team is the Indianapolis Colts, which reportedly had interest in bringing back Daniel Jones before he suffered a season-ending injury. If Jones isn’t good to go at the start of the season, Cousins could be a solid option.
The third option would be the New York Jets. The Justin Field experiment appeared to fail last season. However, with a new offensive coordinator, they could bring out the best in the still-young quarterback. They could also use a player like Cousins, who offers stability under the right conditions.
I guess we will have to wait and see what pans out for Kirk Cousins.
