Patriots left tackle Will Campbell pulled back the curtain on his life during Super Bowl media week. Campbell is days away from the biggest game of his life, but the 22‑year‑old admitted there’s something far more frightening to him.
Campbell has a bigger problem than the Seattle Seahawks’ defense. He didn’t hesitate when asked during a media session to name “his most irrational fear.” His answer was cats.
The former LSU Tiger says a much smaller creature has haunted him for years. Speaking to reporters, he explained that his fear stems from a startling encounter during his teenage years.
Will Campbell Talks About His Fear of Cats

Campbell, the Patriots’ rookie left tackle, was asked Tuesday what his greatest irrational fear was, and he replied with, “Cats.”
The unexpected revelation has sparked a mix of confusion and amusement among fans and fellow players alike. He told a story about staying over at a friend’s house in high school and a battle with his pet cat.
“So crazy,” Campbell said.
“I went in the room that I was sleeping in and it was pitch black, dark. You couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. And I take my shirt off, I’m about to get into bed, and I just hear [a screech]. And a cat jumped out from under this bed onto my leg. I booted that thing.”
Will Campbell admitted to kicking a cat. “Yeah, I kicked it,” Campbell said. “[It was] biting me. I’m not gonna just let it.”

Unless the Seahawks come out with cats on the field, the Patriots won’t be worried about Campbell’s disdain for the animal. They need him to protect quarterback Drake Maye’s blindside against a strong Seattle pass rush.
The No. 4 pick in April had an up-and-down rookie season that saw him miss four games with an MCL injury. He injured the knee on Nov. 23 and was carted off the field. By his side through this process has been his girlfriend, Ashlynn Nussmeier. She is the sister of his former college quarterback.
Campbell has struggled in the playoffs. He gave up 10 pressures and four sacks in the team’s games against the Chargers and Texans. He needs to be much better on Sunday, or the Seahawks will destroy Drake Maye.
ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) favors the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl LX over the New England Patriots.
