Dallas Cowboys Save Millions In Cap Space By Cutting Star Player In Shocking Move

The Dallas Cowboys are in a good position to compete in the 2026 NFL season. The Lone Star had one of the best offenses last campaign, while their defense was one of the worst. Matt Eberflus lost his job as defensive coordinator, while Christian Parker replaced him.
They will have a busy offseason to try to revamp the defense and strengthen the offense to contend. Keeping wide receiver George Pickens and running back Javonte Williams are their top priorities this offseason, but the front office knows what buttons they need to push to improve the roster.
A two-time All-American defender could be on the team’s radar in the 2026 NFL draft. Meanwhile, they released one of their trade deadline acquisition to save some salary cap space.
Dallas Cowboys Release LB Logan Wilson

The Cowboys released one of their mid-season additions, linebacker Logan Wilson, on Friday. Jordan Schultz reported on Friday that the move saved $6.5 million in cap space for the Cowboys.

Wilson arrived at AT&T Stadium when the Cowboys traded for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker posted 24 tackles, one pass defended and one forced fumble with Dallas.
Jerry Jones’ team came into Friday at about $30 million over the cap. The Wilson move gives them more freedom, as they continue to plan for a crucial free agency.
