Travis Kelce’s future with the Kansas City Chiefs has become a popular topic around the NFL in the 2026 offseason. The veteran tight end flirted with retirement at the end of the 2024 season, but decided to run it back. Kansas City couldn’t bounce back and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

With his upcoming wedding to Taylor Swift, Kelce’s future has been a source of speculation. Additionally, trade rumors linking him to the New York Giants started heating up last week.

Eric Bieniemy’s return, Patrick Mahomes coming back from injury and potential additions to the roster would make the Chiefs contenders again. Adding Kelce to that mix would give them a chance to compete again, but nothing is certain at this moment.

He has yet to express what is next for his career, but Travis Kelce appears to be ready to return to the Chiefs in 2026. Insider Tom Pelissero reported that the tight end has been in negotiations with the franchise to sign a new deal.

“It seems like this is trending toward Travis coming back and playing for Kansas City, but nothing is done until it’s done,” Pelissero said on the “Rich Eisen Show.” “Obviously, Travis has a lot going on in his life outside of football and decisions to make. He may not have the howitzer anymore in terms of the top end speed that he did back in the day, but he’s still a functional NFL tight end.”

Kelce played 17 games last season, recording 76 receptions for 851 yards and five touchdowns. As he navigates legal trouble, Kelce’s future appears to be sealed.
